I can’t remember the last time after a loss to a team not named Bama, GA, LSU. or OU that 75% of the board didn’t want to fire the coach. I think he actually coached a really good game tonight. There was maybe only handful of times I thought oh what the hell is he doing and half of them ended up working out. A couple thoughts besides that.
Baze is the kind of QB Bama or GA could win a Natty with but does not really do much to push a team like Mizzou over the edge. He is a game manager. And a good one at that. Besides not notice the lb didn’t bite on the play action in the first drive of the second half he played a smart and controlled game. He just doesn’t have the ability to hit guys more than 15 yards down field. Not saying he can’t develop into one but I don’t really see it. He is the perfect kind of QB if you have a shit down defense and a stable of RB’s. We really have neither. I think we seen tonight what Drink thinks of Brady Cook. Baze could barely walk on that last play and coach left
While we don’t have a stable of backs we have one damn good one. Badie showed a lot of maturity in the way he ran tonight that I had not seen before. He always had the break away speed but didn’t really wait for blocks to set up. Tonight he did. He still isn’t a pound it up the guy guy but I was wrong he can definitely be a 25 carry 35 touch kind of guy. Hopefully as the year goes on Elijah can compliment him more.
It is nice to see some turnovers finally. Now if we can’t just find some ways to force a few punts we will be in business.
Officiating was far from perfect but by college football standards it was actually pretty good. They really only had two bad calls. The first one was a PI call on CAD in the end zone. I don’t even think he laid a hand on the WR and turned his head towards the ball. The second one may not have even been a bad call because I am not sure on the rule. On the HB pass Chisim was absolutely mugged but I am not even sure if PI exist on HB passes.
