I am currently on a flight from Saint Louis to meet up with my family for a quick weekend vacation. About halfway through the flight, the news about Michael began to break. As I looked throughout the flight I saw people cheer, I saw a man shoot his arms in the arm and the man behind me order a Blue Moon to celebrate the occasion after his son told him the news. This is what it's all about. As excited as I am to see Michael play a full game and see where this team will go in the tournament, I am even more excited to be in the position.
I am currently a Senior at Mizzou, who grew up out of state and without an ounce of Mizzou fandom in my blood before coming to Mizzou. Over my last three years, that changed completely to the point where I annoy my family talking about Mizzou. I had heard stories from my friends that grew up in STL and KC and had been Mizzou fans their whole life about the greatest Mizzou basketball years, but only being a Mizzou fan during the KA years, I couldn't relate. I had heard stories of the KU/Mizzou games where there wasn't an empty seat in the arena and stories of Norfolk State knocking out a potential Final Four team. All I have wanted since I stepped foot on campus is to experience the excitement of Mizzou basketball. Now, with a team effort being lead by HCCM, I will finally get to experience it this March. For me, seeing Mizzou's name Sunday will be surreal. Watching the team take the court while at Harpo's (or possibly at the game if it's driving distance) next Thursday/Friday will be even more so. I am beyond excited to be able to experience this rollercoaster for the first time during my last year at Mizzou. Cheers to Mizzou being back and regardless of what happens the next couple weeks, I am just excited to be here.
