So the SEC doesn't appear to be the top to bottom juggernaut that a lot were predicting this year.
Alabama just lost to Georgia State last night, making them the 2nd SEC to do so, Georgia was blown out by them. South Carolina might be the worst team in the league, having lost 3 games to teams I couldn't tell you where their campus is. A&M has lost some tough games but also lost to a California city school, the "anteaters" of Irvine. Florida and Vandy look decent but not great.
So really the SEC appears to be a 4 team race, Kentucky, Tennessee, Auburn, and Mississippi State. Arkansas and LSU are up there, but their schedules have been kind of a joke so far.
So I think Mizzou has a shot here to actually win 7 or 8 games in conference, which would hopefully give the Tigers 15 or 16 wins. About where most people put them I think, if they sneak a few games they shouldn't win with good defense (Mizzou is 0-3 in games they give up 70+ pts), you could squeeze out 9 with this schedule:
Tenn - L
@ USC - W
Bama - W
@ A&M - W
@ Ark - L
LSU - L
@ Aub - L
Vandy - W
@ Tenn - L
A&M - W
Ark - W
@Ole Miss - L
@UK - L
@ Florida - L
@ Miss St - L
USC - W
@UGA - W
Ole Miss - W
9-9
I think it is doable but they need to steal games on the road against bad teams, specifically UGA and A&M. Have to win at home against the middle tier teams.
I think 7-11 is more likely, but it is a long season, a lot can happen.
