Phenomenal pickup. Easily the most important of the three so far IMO because:
1) He plays the point primarily. Yes, you can go without a designated point guard, but you need somebody who is the primary ballhandler when you need it. That's Coleman.
2) He is a shooter. 37% over two years, 42.5% last year. You have to respect him outside the arc
3) He is different than Gordon and Davis. Those guys are more drivers, slashers, athletes. Coleman's game compliments theirs and should theoretically make them more dangerous. In fact, I'd venture to say if the Coleman commitment had happened before Davis and Gordon, people would have been more excited than Davis and Gordon. There was a lot of negativity because you were adding guys who aren't good three point shooters to a team that didn't have a good proven three point shooter. Now it has one.
4) You're not relying on a true freshman to take over major minutes at the point. Maybe Anton Brookshire is great, but you don't want him coming in day one looking like the starting point IMO. Now he can be a secondary point guard and learn and if he's good enough to earn more minutes, that's great.
5) Two spots left. I'd imagine the priorities are Tamar Bates and a player who can play in the post. If you don't get Bates, I can see leaving a scholarship open, but I think you HAVE to have a transfer who can help inside.
