I don’t think you can say the refs changed the outcome of the game for certain. I think you can say they made it way less entertaining. It won’t happen but I would love next year in the non-con games to just call your own fouls. It can’t possibly worse. CBB is a an otherwise great product with one massive defect.
I don’t mean to take anything away from Cooper as he is the best offensive player in the conference. However, when the other team is not allowed to defend him it makes an already great player look like the GOAT.
A list of grievances include 3 block charge calls that should have been obvious, countless hand checks that were nothing, Pinson and Mark Smith getting mugged multiple times on drives and most frustrating of all a minimum of 3 goal tendings not called. If a 6 foot 11 guy jumps 4 ft from the basket and throws it on a downward trajectory you can’t block the shot without it being goal tending. Auburn still had a ton of legit blocks and played a good game.
Can’t blame it all on the refs though. You can’t go 0-6 down the stretch in free throws, miss wide open lay ups and dunks, have your leading scorer foul out halfway through the second half after doing not much in the first, and having Mark Smith do less than nothing. I know it gets beat to death but at a certain point it has to be time to move on. To be fair he should have got 4-6 more free throws and was called for two charges that were actually blocks. But outside of getting screwed in a couple of calls everything else was awful.
Time to move on. Every game on the schedule is winnable, most could be lost if you play like crap. But it behind you and finish it strong.
