First off, let me say this is only from my view from the seats at the game. I haven't been able to watch the replay yet.

Kicking game: I thought we did very well in the kicking game. Fatony is going to be a stud and Baggett nailed his field goals and extra points.

Return game: Ugh. I don't know if it was the Redhawk's punter or what, but Penton seemed lost out there. We probably lost 80 to 100yds of field position because he let the ball hit the ground. Hell maybe even more. We need a lot of improvement in our return game.

Offensive Line: Well, let's just say it was offensive. They didn't pass block that well and there was no push on the line. Gabe complained about our RBs and I'm sure we would have ran the ball better with #32, but against SEMO we should have opened a lot more holes and had much better push.

Defensive Line: I thought we didn't get the push or pressure I thought we should have against SEMO. I am really worried about our DEs setting the edge. The Redhawks had a field day running wide and we also left a lot of cutback lanes. Having said that, we only gave up 3 points, but SEMO had more success running than they should have. DAMN, do we have some serious talent in the pipeline or what. Watching Howard blow up SEMO's line was a lot of fun to watch. TBJ was awesome as well. I'm wondering how long it will be until we see them in the first quarter?

Back 7: This is the main reason we only gave up 3 points IMO. This is a strength on our team. If the D Line improves, we are going to have a nasty defense.

Recievers: They are raw, but we have a lot of talent there. I think we will be fine once SEC play begins.

QBs: Mauk played better than most want to give him credit for. I thought he had a lot of nice completions, but he had a few "what the hell was that" moments. We saw his patented spin move, which happened to work more than not, but against really good SEC teams it can lead to disaster. Lock is the real deal. He showed a lot of poise and had great touch on the ball. He had a "what the hell was that" moment as well, but he is a freshman. It's not a question of if he will take the reigns from Maty, it's a question of when. I would assume next season unless Maty gets hurt or plays really poorly for a stretch.

RBs: We definitely need someone to step up as our #2 back. I don't think Witter is the answer. If RH gets hurt for any extended time our ground game is going to take a serious hit. As I said earlier though, our OL has to get much better as well.

Read Option: Ok, we either need to scrap this play or run the QB. There were several times where Maty should have kept the ball and didn't. I don't know if it was the coaching staff telling him not to run or just a bad read on Maty's part. However, if you are not going run the QB for whatever reason or he can't make the right read, that play needs to get scrapped.
