Cuonzo Martin did all he could with this group considering:
1. They lost Barnett and Robertson
2. Jontay out for the season and Mark Smith for half of it.
3. Dru Smith wasn’t eligible
4. Rest of the roster was Kim Anderson players (I hate to say it but it’s true), freshman and sophomores.
And when the season officially started, I don’t think any coach in America would have taken this currently constructed Mizzou team to the NCAA Tournament. Some may have got them to the NIT but who cares.
15-17 isn’t exactly the record you want, but that’s what was expected in what became year one of a true rebuild. One of the most enjoyable losing seasons in a while because the direction of the program is positive right now.
Future is bright.
