I'll start with why I think he will be really good:
1) Knows Missouri High Schools inside & out.
2) Knows the history and direction of the Mizzou program as well as anybody...knows what to sell and what to gloss over.
3) Knows the recruiting process as a player who was recruited, as a High School Coach who has had many kids recruited, and as a parent who has had a son who was highly recruited.
4) More specifically...as a PARENT of a recently recruited player who took lots of official and un-official visits and heard recruiting pitches and read mailings from all over the country...he can likely help us improve in lot's of these areas,
5) Having played at Mizzou and in the NFL...he not only has pedigree...but he has a great idea of what young men are looking for...especially since he has a young son who just went through the process.
6) He is an impressive guy to visit with...he has physical presence because of his size and athleticism...and is also very smart, quick-thinking, and extremely articulate.
7) He has wisdom and horse-sense when it comes to dealing with high school parents and their young-athletic sons because of his many years in teaching a coaching...he has dealt with all kinds and knows the right buttons to push with each.
8) He is extremely personable yet at the same time extremely professional...two skills sets that don't necessarily go hand-in-hand.
9) He is organized, thorough, and meticulous in all that he does.
10) Lastly...he is an educated, bi-racial man who grew up in an inner city Detroit HS. He knows first hand the background that a lot of very talented recruits come from..and that first-hand knowledge and experience will serve him well in so many ways.
10A) Bonus...he knows the inner city high schools and several coaches and people in talent-rich area of Detroit...he will be a huge help in improving our recruiting efforts there and nearby Big-10 Country.
