1) My first thought at about halftime was that it reinforced what I thought coming in: You can't make your decision based on this game. Nothing that happens against Arkansas should change what you had planned to do coming in. Beating Arkansas proved nothing. Then you're playing your third string QB and your I don't even know what string wide receivers and everybody keeps getting hurt and it just reinforced the idea that I don't think this is a game you make your decision on. Your decision should have been made before today. If it wasn't, you're not going your job.
2) Missouri won. That's good. I mean, it's better than losing. I don't ask anyone to be inspired by it. They beat a terrible team that hadn't won an SEC game in two years and a month and they struggled to do it. It's not anything to be all that excited about. But it's better than the alternative. For a lot of this game, Missouri looked like it didn't care a whole lot. There just wasn't very much energy. But give them some credit, they made enough plays to win. I know it's Arkansas. But they could have completely mailed it in. They didn't.
3) As far as the actual football goes, on an offense that hasn't done anything right in the last few weeks, the offensive line is especially brutal and after today I think mostly to blame. They just weren't getting anything done. It was really bad. It's mind boggling to me how they went from pretty good to this bad. With a lot of the same people. The guys most believe are the best players are leaving. What's that say about next year? And what's it say about the future for Brad Davis?
4) I really like Tyler Badie. Barrett Banister has earned a starting shot for whoever the coach is. I thought Larry Rountree ran harder today than he's run for most of the year. I'm sure Johnathan Nance really enjoyed making some plays back in front of the Razorback fans and I'm sure Taylor Powell did too (kudos on your first career touchdown pass). How about Tauskie Dove making a big time play? Also, Connor Bazelak showed some things in the brief time he was out there. Not a memorable day or a good game, but there were some things to like individually and those kids deserve to be recognized.
5) There's only one thing you guys want to know and only one thing you care about. Mitchell is going to be asking about the future in the postgame. We are going to be following it all day tomorrow and for however long we have to. I don't know what the answer is. For a lot of the game, they looked like a team and a coaching staff that already knew it was over. That might be me reading into something that isn't there. It might be accurate. I don't know. We'll know by the end of the weekend. I can't see how Jim Sterk can let this go one beyond Sunday morning. If he's coming back, he should already know that and he should make a statement to the media at the game. I don't expect that to happen, but we'll see. Either way a statement has to be made no later than Sunday morning. It's malpractice and it's not treating people the right way if it isn't.
BONUS: Kudos to anybody who went to this game or watched it and was not required to due to it being part of your job or having a family member on the team. It wasn't easy to do.
