Momentum is very important in business, life, sports, whatever. Mizzou, coming off two wins, takes on Florida, a team that lacks an identify and was just pistol whipped in the world's largest cocktail party...err...whatever they call it today.
Odom needs five (and maybe six) to stay. Losing today, I think Mizzou loses out and he's gone at 3-9. Any momentum would be lost to a meddling team without a head coach. But win, even if it's by a point, and you take on the deadest coach walking in college football (Tennessee), a perennial doormat that looks to play the part more than Mizzou can even plan it (Vandy) and another dead coach walking (Arkansas). A win today would carry enough momentum to at least one more win of those three, and Odom most likely stays; hell, even Shreveport could beckon! But a loss today, we all know what happens.
So Mizzou, if you like Odom as your coach, win. And if not, lose by 14+ so we all know what happens over the next few weeks today and can get the drama over with. The recruiting class, our holiday plans, and your near term futures, all depend on whatever performance you give us today. Coaches could polish up resumes, gradasses could think about where to go next, etc. None of us want a Larry Smith drawn out firing squad, so let's make the decision, whatever it is, today. I want you to stay Odom, and I want you to prove it, today. But if you don't want to stay, tell us now so we can all make our plans and part nicely in three weeks and a few days.
Go Tigers.
