Wanted to get a few bits of info out before I go write the notebook:

-- WR coach Pat Washington said that the number of receivers means that some of the true freshmen will play this year. He does not know who at this point, but said a decision could be made after Saturday's scrimmage. That's earlier than most years, and that could hint at how important it is to get the freshmen receivers ready to play this fall.

-- QB coach Andy Hill wouldn't rule out the possibility that Drew Lock will play this season, but did mention the considerable depth at the position. He said their recruiting at QB is focused on 2017 right now, but that could change. Had high praise for Eddie Printz as the back-up, said they feel confident in him if he has to play more this year. Said Mauk has really improved his fundamentals this offseason.

-- DL coach Craig Kuligowski talked about Harold Brantley's accident. He said he believes the only reason Brantley survived was because of how big and muscular he is. Said Brantley has lost 30-40 pounds. I asked him if there were plans to move Brantley to DE before the accident; Kuligowski basically said they had a lot of plans for Brantley this season.

(We'll have the full audio from Kuligowski's interview and I'll post more of it in the notebook.

-- OL coach AJ Ricker said he's trying not to move around the linemen from position to position much this August, but there could be some moves after the first scrimmage. He said Malik Cuellar is good enough to be a starter, but he has to prove it to everyone. Raved about Mitch Hall's improvement this offseason. Josh Henson also was very effusive in his praise for Nate Crawford.

My guess at a possible OL after the first scrimmage -- Crawford, Hall, Boehm, Malik Cuellar (going on a limb here but I think we'll see him there), McGovern.

Full notebook coming soon. Hope this tides everyone over.
