So since we last talked Jatorian Hansford committed and Simi Bakare committed
That brings the commitment list to 21 for now...but then this also happened
For now, we are keeping Vincent Gray on the commitment list. After that offer, I messaged him to find out if he had any plans for visits or when he would sign and he told me "Haven't made any plans yet." I asked if he still considered himself a Mizzou commit and never heard back, which does not surprise me because he very rarely does any interviews.
It's easy to assume that he's going to decommit. And I think he probably will. But I did have someone tell me yesterday that there are people close to Gray who want him to stick with Missouri and view it as "disrespectful" that Michigan didn't offer until now.
*At least one potential signing day mystery is solved.
Honestly, I think this is good. It's been pretty obvious that if the choice was left up to Ronnie, he was going to Norman. I think it's good when kids get to make their own decisions. Plus, you don't want a kid who isn't fully bought in. If he comes here, it's not where he wants to be and things don't work out, the anti-Mizzou stuff would have started up again. So, it would have been very good for Missouri to land Perkins. But the way it played out, I think this is the best path for everyone.
*The main question this week will revolve around Verdis Brown.
No new information since yesterday. We're still expecting a commitment to Illinois on Friday.
*The other question mark would be Messiah Swinson.
No inside info here, but I'm going to guess Nebraska for him.
*So that means 21 players will be eligible to sign with Missouri this week. We are pretty confident that Gray won't and Jatorian Hansford remains unknown, but I think there's a better than 50-50 chance he does indeed sign. That would mean Mizzou will get 20 signatures this week and have eight spots left to fill between now and February.
Here's how we see those working out:
*Gray or another cornerback
*Eddie Smith
*Michael Thompson
*A running back
*A quarterback
*Two offensive linemen (preferably Johncarlo Valentin and Jahmir Johnson)
*A wild card, best available player
That's where we're at. Through the next three days, we'll have threads on the board updating you as letters come in and passing along anything that happens. We don't expect to be surprised, but if we expected it we wouldn't be surprised.
