I remember when White signed on with ku (he was a couple of classes ahead of me), and I remember he started (and ended) playing midyear.
Question #1: Freshmen weren't eligible to play during the time he was at ku, so did he sit for a year before becoming eligible? My vague recollection is that he graduated mid year from SL McKinley in order to enroll early. But I don't remember if he was immediately eligible 2nd semester of that year or if it was 2nd semester the following year.

Question #2: To what extent did MU recruit him? Bob Vanatta was the MU head coach from 1964-65 through 1966-67. Vanatta's predecessor was longtime Mizzou coach Sparky Stalcup. One would presume that White was well known in high school while Sparky was still head coach.
Pre-Norm, MU basketball was not much to get excited about, and Brewer Field House was not exactly a recruiting magnet.
For those who know, was Jo Jo bought and paid for (a la Wilt et al.), or was it just the allure of a perennial winner and AFH?
