Phenomenal tennis across the board this far. Honestly, the best I've ever seen in the first week.

Novak Djokovic on court now facing Kei Nishikori, who he absolutely owns. He's five match wins away from the calendar year Grand Slam. Seems pretty relaxed for a guy under this level of pressure. It's one of the rarest achievements in any sport.

So let's talk for a minute about this human meltdown.

You'll be hard pressed to find an athlete who's fallen further faster than Naomi Osaka. She was the wealthiest female athlete in the world by a large margin and had won for Grand Slam tournaments. Then she got super woke, emersed herself in social media, lost her tennis focus, and now she's not even competitive. She's got to be carrying an extra 20+ pounds too, which isn't an acceptable trait at tennis' highest level.

After her latest tanking last night, she immediately announced yet another "break" from the sport. She takes more "breaks" than she plays tournaments. Is that even a tennis player?

Lastly, Matteo Berrettini hit a 140 MPH serve today. Ridiculous. I played against a former WTA player earlier this week. She serves at about 95-100 MPH. I could barely get a racquet on it, much less do anything with it other than block it back. I can't imagine facing a serve 40 MPH hotter. My goal would be not losing a testicle.
