I think some people are massively overstating the effect that losing Walters will have on recruiting. Drink is in the ear of every one of these recruits. The position coach is involved sure, but at the end of the day it's the head coach leading the charge, presenting the message/goals/etc.
Every big recruit we've bagged in the last couple months has either been on the offensive side of the ball or if they were defense, they cited Drink and what program he is building.
Drink has said multiple times that if you don't want to be part of the program and what they are building, then leave. Bringing in a new DC that has the recruiting ability (he will because Drink won't hire someone who isn't) and similar vision of the program is another step in the building process.
