We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
As I thought about the fourth I thought a lot about where we are today and the original thoughts of the Founding Fathers. They recognized they were only seeking to form a more perfect union, not the perfect union. We didn’t get it perfect then and don’t have it perfect now. In today’s environment let us embrace the fact that we are human and have the opportunity to be better. It doesn’t make the past wrong just that the future can chart a more right and just course.
