I was able to watch some of the game I recorded over the weekend. With Barry Odom as a player and Justin Smith as a freshman at MU. I had very little recollection of the game but it drove home how important special teams are with the first points scored by the good guys on a blocked field goal. A blocked punt later in the game.

I know Barry Odom wanted a special teams coach on his staff but as it turned out the duties will be divided as they have been in the past. I think special teams will be a critical piece of our game in Morgantown against West Virginia in a little over a month. No rocket science in my thinking but certainly the bowl game in 1998 is a great lesson in how important special teams can be. Fun to watch the old coach on the field.
