What are you willing to do to your own son to make sure things like this don’t happen?
Apparently this kid was arrested 4 years ago for threatening a school shooting, and specifically for threatening to do it when he became a senior (2022). He has reportedly going to counseling. He was an 18yo unemployed HS drop out who was miraculously able to afford to buy 2 assault rifles in a week, much less to pass any effective background check system.
Are we willing to remove these kids from society before they become mass murderers? How do you know which ones to remove and not remove? Are you cool with removing your child? Do we care as much about the broken kids who just get arrested repeatedly in inner cities until they finally kill soneone(s), or just the troubled suburban kids and the innocent people who live near them?
People keep saying “we ignore mental health”. Tell me what addresses it besides meds and “counseling”, both of which are not fully effective and require troubled minds to be compliant to even have a chance to be effective. How do you force compliance, and thus max effectiveness?
Are we down with forced institutionalization? Who decides who gets institutionalized and who doesn’t? How long do they stay since bipolar disorder, anti-social disorder, and schizophrenia don’t ever go away?
I want to hear the ideas besides “we need more resources” ITT.
