Is there current situation tenable? There is a temporary feel to the Big XII. Most would say it is either going to expand or go away over the next 10 years.
So, they weighed expansion with the current teams and determined that no one was good enough. Rather than demean the brand of powerhouses like Texas Tech and ISU, they determined to stand pat. Rather than add the culture of cities like Houston, Memphis or Cincinatti, they chose to remain firm with Waco and Ames.
My only guess is that they are still waiting to expand. I think they are so disillusioned with their stature that they think the ACC will collapse first. It is my opinion they feel the SEC will poach a couple of teams, leading to the Big 10 to poach a couple of teams, then the Big XII will pick the rest of the ACC when they are reeling. It's really the only logical thing I can think of.
Unfortunately for the Big XII, I don't think anyone wants to join a conference where Texas and Oklahoma make all the rules. I don't think I'm alone when I say they will likely collapse sooner, rather than later.
