As the title says, what Mizzou team (basketball and/or football) in your lifetime did you take for granted as the season was going on or even looking back?
In football, I would definitely say it's the 2014 team. After the loss to Indiana, I had given up on the great season I was hoping for. Following the loss to Georgia a couple weeks later, Mizzou was not ranked until following the Texas A&M game on November 15th and of course finished the year 11-3 and ranked 11th in the Coaches poll.
In basketball, I would have to say the 2002-2003 season which finished 22-11 (9-7) and lost to Dwayne Wade's Marquette team in OT in the 2nd round of the tourney. This was the season following Quin's Elite 8 run. Immediately after the loss to Marquette, everyone was already looking forward to 2003-2004 which was a preseason top 5 team along with prominent Seniors in AJ and Paulding. That year is obviously infamous, but the 2002-2003 remains almost a forgotten season for most sandwiched in between those 2 years.
