Lunch conversation today about how we got to this point with virtue signaling in almost everything we are involved in and see.

Politicians have always pandered and pretended to care about lots of things they don’t care very much about. People have always said nice things in front of other people. But when did advertising to the world how much you care about causes really take off and become “a thing”? Social media certainly was the gasoline to the fire, but what “thing” really got the ball rolling to lead us here?

Was it when athletes started wearing pink all of the time because they wanted to save boobs?
Was it the rubber/silicon bracelets for every ”victim” or “good” cause in your community/country/world?
Was it something else?
