DEFENSIVE PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: S DAYLAN CARNELL
Carnell has split his time between slot corner and a box safety for Missouri’s defense over the last two seasons. His 87.0 coverage grade in that span was third among SEC safeties, trailing only Caleb Downs and Javon Bullard. His 23 coverage stops since 2022 is second in that group, as well. The redshirt junior won’t wow anyone with his athleticism, but he makes up for it with his instincts and play recognition.
Snaps | Overall grade | Coverage grade | Run-defense grade |
677 | 68.2 | 73.9 | 54.0 |
T-140th | T-221st | T-119th | T-430th |
So the question is does he struggle in coverage as was alluded to all last year or is he a run issue which is what I thought he was good at last year with TFLs, Sacks, and 2 FF. You can't completely win with these people... Now at 6'-2" 215lbs I find out his athleticism won't wow but instincts and play recognition is good.
