Cheating?
Is it because the administration held the school in higher-regard academically than the likes of Nebraska, OU and ku while we were in the Big 8/12 and didn't want to get in the cesspool with those football/basketball factories? Given that our academic rankings have tanked over the last 10+ years, bringing us more in line with the ku's, OU's and LSU's of the world as opposed to the Indiana's, Iowa's, etc. I'd find it ironic if this were still the case.
Is it because we're just afraid of getting caught and hammered by the NCAA?
Gabe touched on it in his 10-thoughts column on Monday. You've got to be willing to get a little dirty. Do people really think we were squeaky clean when, at least for a time, we seemed to get whoever we wanted out of Detroit for basketball? Some of the recruits QS pulled in (Travon Bryant, Kleiza), do you all really think they were just dying to come and spend 2-4 years in mid-Missouri?
How Will Wade still has a job 3+ years after his "strong ass offer" recording just simply defies all rational logic. But if that's the way it is and the way its going to be then why is Mizzou so staunchly opposed to jumping in with the sharks?
Its just difficult to see all the excitement going on at places like Ole Miss, Arkansas, etc. and then at Mizzou we can't even get 45K in the stands for homecoming and I'd be shocked if we break 10K for any basketball game assuming the team plays to expectations.
As far as I'm concerned, either jump in with the sharks or just admit we aren't cut out to navigate these waters and head back to the Big 12 or whatever other league we're more apt to compete with.
