I really feel like the change in DLine responsibilities explains why Jordan Harold is starting opposite Charles Harris. Northwest Missouri State runs a gap control defensive line scheme. That means his transition hasn't had to be nearly as drastic, and despite not having the raw assets of a Frazier or Spencer Williams, he's got the mindset already drilled into his head.
Harold is going to be my litmus test for the year. As he falls on the depth chart, I suspect it's because the scheme is becoming second nature to the more talented guys behind him. And with better talented guys being able to successfully operate the same system, the defense will be better.
Let's just hope it happens sooner rather than later.
