I've seen it mentioned several places that Mizzou should never fire a coach that wins 7 games while playing in the SEC. Here is why Sterk absolutely has to look at replacing his head coach if Barry finishes 7-5 this year. Over his first two seasons Barry is 6-10 in the SEC, assume he finishes with 7 wins this year, that makes it 9-15. His losses are by an average of 17 points. Now look at those 9 wins:
Barry's 6 wins in the first two years of SEC play came against teams that finished a combined 11-37 in conference play. IF he was able to win the last 3 this year the total combined record of the teams he beat would be 14-58. None of those teams finished .500 in conference play and over half those wins would be over teams with zero or one conference win.
So in short it has been incredibly easy for Barry to win 7 games the past couple years and fans have every right to expect something better. Unfortunately they will be painted in a bad light for not blindly supporting Barry. When in reality it is very easy to understand why fans aren't showing up, especially considering that Barry's started at least 0-4 in league each year.
