Today, I decided to officially join Powermizzou to partake in some of the conversations that regularly happen here.

For my first thread I want to explain why I think Odom needs to go, unless there is substantial improvement the remaining 5 games. I would also like to preface this with I was a big fan of the Odom hire and really like some of the things he was doing on the recruiting side this year.

1. Just because Mizzou has improved over the last few games doesn't mean the overall product still meets the bare minimum of what should be acceptable. The performance was abysmal the first 4 games, if there wasn't at least some improvement over the last three games Odom should already be fired. What I have seen the last three games is still below acceptable.

2. He put together a horrible staff. Cross had never been a defensive coordinator, much less a successful defensive coordinator. Yet, HCBO hired him and gave him full authority over the defense. He did this even though Cross had a reputation for not getting along with players. HCBO owns this hire and the chance he took no matter what way you cut it. Heupel isn't that great of an Offensive Coordinator. Let's not forget he was fired from Oklahoma because his offenses just weren't cutting it. Fired by the school where he was a collegiate star, by the very coach that he played for. Why??? Because he wasn't good enough to coach a championship caliber offense. The year after he was fired I believe Oklahoma's offense jumped from 20 something in the nation to top 5. Im not sure of the exact numbers. If I'm not mistaken, the person who took over is now Oklahoma's new coach. The table was set for Heupel if he could perform, but he couldn't. Heupel was buried at Utah State and his career was on a downward trajectory and we hired him. Odom hired him AND gave him complete control of the offense with minimal oversight. Odom owns the horrible performance against P5 teams.

3. Odom destroyed the defense last year. The no talent argument doesn't hold water. He inherited a top 10 defense and turned in a bottom 10 defense. If I'm not mistaken that defense returned 9 starters. I know we had a massive loss with Brothers graduating, but what happened to next man up? The other 9 starters should be able to improve and help make up for the Brothers loss. I'm not buying that Brother was such a talent that the entire defense fell apart because of his departure. If Mizzou had fallen from top 10 to 60th I would listen. But, bottom 10 defense is on Odom...no other way to slice it.

4. It seems the fans are apathetic. Casual fans not caring means it's time to go.

Many coaches deserve three years, but I don't think Odom does. Looking back we shouldn't be surprised by the results when a first time head coach...hired a first time defensive coordinator...and an offensive coordinator that was fired from a program that competes for championships...all to cut their teeth in the SEC. So two of the 3 top people in the program were first timers and the other had difficulty performing at SEC Level.

Just my thoughts...feel free to call me an idiot...odds are you are correct.
