My son (17) is headed to college in 18 months. He's going to have a lot of options and he's got his heart set on going out to either the east or west coast. He hasn't eliminated Mizzou yet and it's the only local school on his list. I want nothing but the best for the kid, and if that means heading off to bigger and better things far away from home then that's ok. That said, I've spent time taking him to Mizzou the past year so he can see the campus, Invision himself in the student section at games and maybe fall in love with everything I fell in love with. For Christmas I decided rather than material things I'd get he and I tickets to the bowl game and go make some memories. I don't think the trip could have gone any better on multiple levels. From Mizzou winning, the atmosphere, and the chants of MIZ-ZOU and Let's Go To The Bar echoing through the halls of ATT Stadium it was perfect. I watched my son cheer harder than he ever has for the Tigers and saw real joy in his eyes.
In the end he may choose his own path, but I've got to thank the football team and the rest of the Mizzou fans for putting forth their best effort tonight. If he goes elsewhere so be it, this trip will be locked in my memory until I take my last breath.
MIZ!
