This past weekend, one of my close friends here in DFW was hit with some of the worst news a parent can hear. His under 3 year old son had brain cancer. The boy had Mono (that's another story) and had Seizure last Saturday late evening. The boy was taken to hospital, they thought it might be dehydration. They gave him treatment for Mono and Dehydration and they were going to release him Sunday, but then he had another Seizure and they ordered cat scan/MRI. They discovered a Tumor at the base of his brain. They has Doctor consults that evening and scheduled the next couple days, they had slow drain of fluid that was built up on his brain, did more scans and then scheduled and performed surgery Tuesday morning. They waited for swelling to go down and did more scans. It appears that they have successfully removed all of the Tumor.
The father told me, I am so thankful that I live in a large city in the USA, because my son saw the some of the best doctors in the world on Easter Sunday and was treated and in surgery, successful surgery within 24 hours.
It may be crazy expensive, but damn it is good for emergencies.
