I don't understand why so many people are up in arms about Porter not coming to Mizzou? Top tier in-state talent very rarely goes to the home school. I understand his dad works for he university, but when it comes down to it, top 10 talent regularly goes out of state. This isn't defending Kim. I'm not happy with the quality of our recruiting. But, the Porter decision, however much we needed him, was to be expected.
Here's just a bit of research as to the top 10 in the country for the last few years and where they went. This data was all from Rivals. I do know that some of the high schools for these kids aren't exactly where they grew up (eg. Huntington, WV). From the stats below, the instate school is batting .200 (14/70). It'd be nice to be KU or UK.
