There are several reasons why I think we will kick the shit out of the fighting chickens.
1) We are do for some good fortune in this game. What goes around usually comes around and their luck has run out.
2) We are superior on both LOS. To win in the vaunted SEC, it is said you need to run the ball and you need to stop the run. Last year, Mizzou ran for 303 yards against the fighting chickens for an average of 6.9 yards a carry. Dowdle and company ran for 128 yards and 2.7 yards per carry.
3) When we stuff the run, it is going to be up to a RSFR making his first road start, to beat the Tigers. I expect a couple of freshman mistakes that lead to a couple of turnovers. Mizzou's defense the last two weeks have been nasty and opportunistic. Yes it was against SEMO, and what we thought was an inferior WVU team. But WVU just destroyed a NC State team that was Clemson's last hope for playing a ranked team. I might add, that it is hard to beat any two teams 88 - 7.
4) There is a new sheriff in town and his name is Kelly Bryant. We all know the knock on Drew Lock and it was pretty much true. He could beat the pants off of inferior opponents but really struggled against peer opponents. His record against Kentucky and USC was pretty horrendous. Insert Kelly Bryant who is a certified winner. The gloves have been taken off and Kelly Bryant will do whatever it takes to bring home a victory on Saturday, to include running around and over the USC defense.
5) It just means more. BO has probably had this game circled since last season. In his comments he was asked what Mizzou learned from last year, his response was "bring an umbrella". In other words, he knows that last season's loss was a fluke, and the only thing that kept Mizzou from rolling USC was a freakish one of a kind storm that I have never seen before. It was almost like playing at the Metro Dome against Minnesota. When our team was at bat, the wind was blowing in from center field. When USC was at bat, the wind was blowing out to center field. Add in a TD taken off the board for God knows what reason, an unsportsmanlike penalty against Crockett that should have been offsetting, and a missed 25 yard FG that you couldn't even see on TV. Enough said about that.
6) Home field. I have a feeling Faurot field is going to be rocking. If you are going arrive early, leave late, wear gold, and scream your lungs out. This is a game BO desperately needs and you ladies and gentleman can and will have an effect.
Let's go kick some fighting chicken's ass. If it helps, pretend they are the dirty red legged bastards to the west!!!!
