After the names we saw floated today, I'm not sure any recycled P5 coach or low level lifer like Willie Fritz is going to be well received.

Let's take a risk. The floor might be lower than a "safe" higher like some of the more experienced coaches that have been mentioned, but for most of them we've seen their ceiling too. They are at low level institutions at 50+ years of age for a reason.

We have no idea what the ceiling is on a guy like Healy. He could be the next flop, or he could be the next PJ Fleck. Worst case scenario is we are no worse off than we are now (having Skip Holtz as a top candidate is a low point).

If Healy being able to pick his staff is a stipulation, let the man pick his staff. Odom hired guys with "experience" for his first staff and we all saw how that went. Who's to say having a group of young hungry coaches with something to prove wouldn't be better, even if there was a few growing pains? Nobody thought the Shawn McVey thing would work, now everyone in the NFL wants their own version. Minnesota hired a young Pj Fleck with 4 years of HC experience at W. Michigan, now everyone wants their own version.

I've posted in several threads about my desire for Healy. If he falls on his face I'll eat crow forever. But I'd rather roll the dice and take a swing at something special than do the same ol Mizzou thing and be mediocre.
