COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Women's Basketball announced its eight-game non-conference schedule and 16-game Southeastern Conference slate for the 2020-21 season Friday. Mizzou’s non-conference schedule includes six home contests, while the conference slate opens Dec. 31 with the Tigers hosting Alabama and concludes with a road trip to Mississippi State on Feb. 28.
Among the non-conference opponents on the slate, Mizzou head coach Robin Pingeton’s Tigers will face six who won 17 or more games last season, including three that reached the 20-win mark, and one that captured a conference title in 2019-20.
Mizzou will open the season on Thanksgiving weekend, beginning with a home game against North Alabama on Nov. 27 and a road trip to Saint Louis on Nov. 29. Mizzou and North Alabama will meet for the first time in the Tigers season-opener, while Mizzou continues its longstanding series with Saint Louis, as the two programs have played in eight of the last nine seasons, with the Tigers leading the all-time series, 22-1.
Mizzou will then play host to Morehead State (Dec. 2) and TCU (Dec. 6) at Mizzou Arena. The Tigers’ contest with the Horned Frogs will be a part of the 2020 SEC/Big 12 Challenge and will be the third matchup between the two squads. Mizzou holds a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series against TCU. The Tigers will then travel to Lubbock, Texas, to face old Big 12 foe Texas Tech on Dec. 10. It will be Mizzou’s first matchup with the Red Raiders since departing the Big 12 after the 2011-12 season.
To wrap up the non-conference portion of its schedule, Mizzou will finish with three home games against Missouri State (Dec. 13), New Orleans (Dec. 16) and Oral Roberts (Dec. 19). The Lady Bears are coming off a 26-4 campaign and Missouri Valley Conference Regular Season Championship in 2019-20.
Over the conference slate, Mizzou will play three conference foes twice: Arkansas (Jan. 3 on the road, Feb. 4 at home), Texas A&M (Jan. 24 at home, Feb. 18 on the road) and Florida (Jan. 28 on the road, Feb. 21 at home). In addition to those three opponents, Mizzou will also host Alabama (Dec. 31), Vanderbilt (Jan. 7), LSU (Jan. 18), Georgia (Feb. 14) and Tennessee (Feb. 25) at Mizzou Arena.
In addition to road trips to Arkansas, Texas A&M and Florida, Mizzou will take trips to Auburn (Jan. 10), Ole Miss (Jan. 14), Kentucky (Jan. 31), South Carolina (Feb. 11) and Mississippi State (Feb. 18). Following the conclusion of the regular season, Mizzou will travel to Greenville, S.C., for the SEC Tournament, which will be held March 3-7.
