Robin Pingeton talking to the media now ahead of a big stretch of games, which she says she's excited about.
"Winning helps a lot. They don't get too high, they don't get too low. With a lot of success we're having, the girls don't get distracted. They're not giddy; they're focused."
On Georgia: "They're really good. Really, really good." Says they attack the basket and do a great job on the offensive boards. But she's most impressed with their defense. "They're up in your grill."
On Kayla Michael: "She's not forcing anything. She's having fun, and I have all the confidence in her."
Pingeton says the depth has been key for them. Mentions Hannah Schuchts and Jordan Roundtree. "They're such a huge asset to our team."
Pingeton says Cierra Porter is getting her strength back. They'll see today how she's feeling; didn't have practice yesterday.
Says this team is having fun. "They've got great personalities. They can laugh and joke around, but they're ready to dial in as soon as they need to."
On road games: "Another area of growth is our players respecting every team they play and that anything can happen at any different night. We actually really enjoy going on the road."
Pingeton is reminiscing now, back to when she had to drive her players to games in vans when she was coaching "back in the day". They made sandwiches that sat in the car all day until they came back after the game. Lukewarm mayonnaise and turkey... yum.
Back to the technical basketball. Asked what's been the difference in rebounding this year: "Jordan Frericks." Mentions the consistency of winning the boards and grittiness of players.
Notes agains the toughness of the SEC - every game, every team. Not just Mississippi State and South Carolina, but every team.
