Robin Pingeton about to take the podium to talk about No. 2 Mississippi State coming to town on Thursday. I'll have updates here.

RP: "Had a couple of tough games in a row. At South Carolina, I think we had a pretty good chance, but we had some defensive breakdowns."

"It doesn't stop. We have a great team in Mississippi State coming in. Hopefully we'll have a great crowd here."

On the SC scuffle: "When you're in the moment, you can't see everything. I felt like we missed some things." Said she met with the refs for clarity on what happened, and the refs said they did miss some things when looking at the camera angles. RP said there will probably be some conversation about the camera angles (eluding to the South Carolina player who should have been ejected after stepping onto the court.

RP said she's proud of her players for playing in the South Carolina environment. Mentioned the boos when Sophie touched the ball. "It fuels her fire. She's not going to back down. For that fan base to sustain that, I'm not surprised, but Sophie did a good job handling that."

On Thursday's game against Mississippi State: "Anyone can beat a No. 2 team in the country. And it's Mizzou Arena. We need our sixth man to show up."

On Amber Smith not being too hot of a scorer as of late: "We've talked about imposing her will on both ends of the court. She can do that."

On what happened against Georgia: "We got punched in the face — not literally — but they came out swinging. We haven't been in that position in a while. It felt like we were down 20 at some points. We didn't respond the way we needed to, and that's on me for not preparing right."

"Sometimes we just wait until we saw what Sophie was going to do, instead of helping her out."

RP said the SEC has always been a tough league, but there has always been a top couple of teams that has separated the league. "I don't feel that way at all anymore. There's always going to be a bottom team that are coming for you. Man, that's pretty good basketball."

On Mizzou's fan base: "They're loud, they're energized, they're passionate. It's been fun to see how much it has grown. Our fan base has created an environment that makes it really hard to come and play here."

RP says that the South Carolina game was one of the toughest environments that has ever been played in college basketball. "There was so much passion in that game."
