It wasn't pretty in the first half, but Mizzou got it done against SLU. Tigers are now 8-1 on the season and have won eight in a row.
Robin Pingeton and some players are about to speak to the media. I'll have updates for you here, and a story for you later on.
RP: "On a night that wasn't going well for us, we stayed the course and found a way."
RP: "I thought we did a great job in the fourth quarter going high-low and getting on the free throw line."
Cierra Porter on the fourth quarter: "It was just winning time. I was just the one with the ball in my hands."
Sophie Cunningham and Porter said SLU was physical, but every team is physical. SLU played hard in the paint - similar to how the SEC plays.
RP on the second half: "There was a sense of urgency. They were a lot more aggressive, and it was winning time."
"Winning time" seems to be the buzz phrase tonight.
Someone asks what the halftime talk was like to change the mindset. Cunningham: "You got it, Coach."
RP answers: "What is said in the locker room stays in the locker room." Says she challenged them and told them to exhale, put their shoulders back and go play the game.
RP praises team's versatility, and as always, Cunningham praises the crowd for pumping them up.
SLU head coach Lisa Stone talking now. Fun fact: She played with Lisa Porter at Iowa. "We've got some heritage there."
Stone: "I'm so proud of our team. We have played a hell of a schedule. Robin told me that it's going to help us, and it will."
SLU's Tara Dusharm is 6-foot-5. She was a monster in the paint tonight and Porter had trouble with her early on. Stone: "You can't teach 6-5. This is a great experience for her."
That's all for tonight. Story for you soon, thanks for following along.
