No. 15 Missouri just beat No. 4 South Carolina 83-74, and it was just as impressive as it sounds.
South Carolina coach Dawn Staley is at the podium now. Safe to say, she's not too happy about some of the calls on her star A'ja Wilson and herself: "I have to protect my players. That's what I did today. Wilson is the best player in the nation, and she played half a game."
Asked how to prepare for today's game, Staley said you can't, unless you "bring in some SEC officials to prepare for the way they call."
Staley said it's "not for her to say" how Missouri played today. "They have a coach that will do that."
Staley talked for four and a half minutes and it was basically all about the officiating.
Pingeton, Cunningham and Porter should be in soon.
Cunningham said she was ready to play Thursday.
RP: "She might have been ready to play, but she didn't have the green light." Safe to say Cunningham had the green light today.
RP has high praise for Cunningham and Porter. "They're elite level players."
RP on Smith: "The thing about Amber is she has a really strong work ethic. She's not a kid that's afraid of the moment. She's becoming more and more consistent for us. And she's only a sophomore."
RP: "We talked a lot after the LSU game. We had to go into this game not thinking that we can win this game but knowing we can win this game."
Amber Smith officially labels this game a rivalry. "The Battle of Columbia," someone in the room says.
