In 1916 the Red Sox were 19-9 in September and won the American League pennant. In part due to the emergence of
their young left handed pitcher. The lefty had a 23-12 record, pitched 323.67 innings, with an era of 1.75 and 23 complete games with 9 shutouts.
He also pitched a 14 inning complete game bictory in the World Series.
His name: George Herman Ruth.
