Women in Missouri can’t get a divorce while pregnant. Many fear what this means post-Roe
“The messaging is that the father’s rights are more than the mother’s rights,” said the daughter of a domestic violence survivor who had to wait until she gave birth to divorce her abuser.
Not to sensationalize or dismiss the issue of abusers and their spouses (I mean you don’t have to live with the person you are married too, at the same time I appreciate the dilemma a person can have in simply waking out - circumstances can make that difficult..) but the fact that the law does not allow divorce while you are pregnant was a surprise to me. That seems like something that needs to fixed - state legislatures (blue and red) need to up their game.
