First off, that was one of the worst overall Grammy's I've ever watched. Really, it was a bad overall year for music. Sidenote: Kanye is a dick. I guess only black people can be "artists." Anyway, to get to the point of this thread...

It's palatable how rattled music listeners have the music industry now due to our listening preferences having changed. The industry really thinks because they tell us they want us to change back that we'll simply do so. Uh, no we won't, and if you "artists" start leaving streaming services, we'll all hate you and stop listening to music altogether or just through radio or on YouTube or Pandora (where you really get paid next to nothing).

It's so interesting, though, to listen to uber wealthy people talk to the masses. Case in point, the director of the recording academy who spoke at the end of last night's show.

"We are not earning enough to attract new talent, new 'creators' to our industry."

"The music could stop altogether! Join us in our cause."

Is that dude serious? Look, you aren't going to convince the 22 year old, poor college student or the 45 year old, middle class construction worker to start buying CDs or entire albums again. No matter how many times you say "albums matter," the fact that they don't messes up the entire basis of your argument. Great songs matter. Make 12 great songs and fans will listen to all 12 of them. Whether or not it's called an "album" is largely irrelevant. Moreover, it's hard to take a lecture from people driving Bentleys that they're simply not making enough money with the current model. Boo fukcing hoo. You know who else isn't making as much money as they used to? Oil barons. They are still making billions, however, just like the music industry is, but not publicly protesting that drivers should feel bad for them and return to driving inefficient vehicles and stop carpooling.

Do what everyone else does when faced with industry change...Adapt. Pussies.

Oh, and here is the list of founding members of the "Alliance." All the time they had to prep for their big announcement and they get Jimmy Jam and deadmau5. Really solid group there. LOL.

Don't get me wrong, some solid names, but really only one or two which are current day relevant.
