They return 8 starters from a defense that was 9th nationally in scoring defense.

They have a handful of high level performers who are expected to get drafted and are ranked in the top 10 at their respective position groups for their draft class.

Andrew Wingard - SS
Youhanna Ghaifan - DT
Carl Granderson - DE
Logan Wilson - MLB

It's not an elite SEC level defense but it's a very good test and is probably the best defense we will face during the non-con. They gave up 21 in the fourth quarter to Wazzu but the Cowboy defense contained the cougars for the majority of the game.

It's going to be very interesting to see how the Dooley attack does against Wyoming. Scoring more than 35 points would be a pretty good sign.

The offense was pretty bad last year and they lost one of the best quarterbacks in college football. They return just about everyone else though and now they start a big RS Freshman named Tyler Vander Waal who has looked like a freshman in his first two games throwing the ball about 20 times/game, completing 50% of his passes for ~100 yards/game with 0 TD's and 1 INT. Their air attack isn't scary at all but that's not what Craig Bohl is about. They have some diversity in their formations but are ultimately a run heavy team that wants to run the ball 60% of the time or more depending on the score of the game. They got 139 yards on the ground against Wazzu and 312 yards against NMSU.
