One of my best friends is from TX and lives outside of Houston. Both of his daughters attended A&M, and he knows a few local high school football coaches who are pretty plugged in with folks at the University as they have sent some players their way. In any event, my buddy was hanging out with one of the coaches yesterday, and he said the rumor is that A&M had reached out to several alumni and donors and got confirmation back from 77 who each were willing to foot the bill for 1 million dollars each to get to the $77 million payout. He also said these donors/alumni guys/girls were informed after the Tennesse game to get the ball rolling on getting Fisher out. It sounds wild, but it's Texas football, so this definitely wouldn't surprise me if accurate.
