We're going to start with hoops recruiting this week before we move on to the bulk of the Chamber on the football side.

*We've intimated this before, but from what we are told Mizzou is OUT for Trae Young. Big surprise there. WE hear he has a final four but that hasn’t been released yet. We do know, however, that Missouri isn't in it. Again, not exactly breaking news, but we figured we'd pass on that officially Missouri isn't getting him (and that's true no matter what would happen with Michael Porter Jr.)

*Some names to keep an eye on for 2018 beyond Jordan McCabe, who we wrote about yesterday.

Nassir Little, Torrence Watson, Fred Thatch, Carte’Are Gordon and Courtney Ramey

Long way to go for those guys, but figured we'd throw some names out early. The 2018 class in the state is very, very good. One person who's followed recruiting for quite some time said he thought it was the best it's ever been in the next two or three years. That argument can be made, but we'd still lean toward the McLemore/Porter/Beal/Young class, which came just a handful of years after guys like Mike Dixon, Marcus Denmon and the Hansbroughs.

*For this year (still the 2016 class as Mizzou has two spots), we know Link Kabadyudi visited this week. That, at this point, is all we know. We haven't been able to reach him. We've seen or heard nothing that indicates he committed on the trip. Whether that was his choice or the fact that Missouri wants to wait and see what happens, we aren't sure. We do expect Louisiana three-star Khalea Turner to visit beginning Monday and it's possible the Tiger staff wants to get him on campus and look at him before deciding which guy to go on. It's not out of the question they could take both, but it's tough to see that as the path they go. They still have to take the scholarship hit at some point and unless you're adding two players that you expect to have an immediate measurable impact (that doesn't seem likely with Link or Turner), it makes more sense to take it this year.

As always, we'll keep you posted on what develops on this front.

Before we get to football recruiting in part two of The Chamber, let's hit on the diamond sports and the future of the coaches.

We've had two sources this week tell us they've spoken with Tim Jamieson and get no indication he's doing anything other than coaching the baseball team next year. Our info is that Jamieson is out on the recruiting trail this week. The only way we expect Jamieson not to be Missouri's coach next year is if Missouri were to fire him. And, honestly, we don't see that happening. Missouri has never given an indication they're interested enough in baseball to pay two coaches at the same time. They just re-upped Jamieson for three years last year and we wouldn't expect them to reverse course on that this quickly. This isn't a 100% guarantee Jamieson is back next year, but all our information at this time points in that direction.

As far as Ehren Earleywine goes, we have less direct information. However, those people we have talked to all seem to be saying the same thing. Two weeks ago, pretty much everyone expected this was going to be Earleywine's last year (again, I was first told that about two months ago but couldn't ever really get any confirmation of it). Now, everyone is starting to say, "It seems like things are leaning toward him coming back." We need to stress, this isn't really based on any concrete information. It could be as simple as people thinking that there's been no resolution yet and every day that goes by without one makes it more likely nothing is changing. We have heard that Earleywine was supposed to be meeting with Mack Rhoades and Tim Hickman this week, but nothing has come out about that if it has happened. Rhoades was on the radio in Columbia earlier this week and offered no new information on either situation. A couple of softball players tweeted earlier this week their discontent at the glacial pace at which the investigation is moving. That doesn't seem to have done anything to speed it up.

So, bottom line, we can't say for certain in either case at this point, but gun to our heads, we'd guess both Jamieson and Earleywine return next season.

Stand by for Part Two....
