“He’s one-of-one, man,” said Maclin, 35, the football coach at Kirkwood High. “He’s creative. And he understands men, young men. I think that’s the important thing. He cares more about you more than just being a football player. He mentors, he makes sure that his guys are OK. I think he can genuinely see past, a lot of the times, what type of football player you are. He’s also trying to develop you as a young man. And I think not very many coaches can say that.”
