-Dennis Gates said they're excited to start SEC play. Said he didn't think they were able to execute against the non-con schedule they had. He wants to see what they can do with the lessons they learned from the mistakes they made.

-Gates said a big part of conference play is being able to reset on a short turnaround. They have to be able to digest the past game and turn their attention to the next one quickly.

-Gates said one of the things he's most proud of with this team is their growth on defense, being able to be disruptive with blocks and steals.

-Gates said the excitement from the fans made a big difference going through conference play last year. Said they need them to bring the same energy going into this year.

-Gates liked the number of points his team scored against Central Arkansas and that they were able to turn down certain shots for opportunities to get to the free throw line. He said one of his biggest disappointments of the non-con was that they gave up more free throw attempts than they took. Said they want to turn that around in conference play.

-Gates said he's looking for guys like Noah Carter and Connor Vanover to get out of their shooting funk. He's looking for a guy aside from Sean East and Tamar Bates to step up from the perimeter.

-Gates said Georgia poses a serious threat and that Mike White has done a tremendous job this season. They've seen growth from Jabri Abdur-Rahim and will need to slow him down from outside.

-Tamar Bates said conference play is almost like a new season because everyone's record is 0-0. He thought the team learned a lot of lessons and showed a lot of fight with its back against the wall. He thinks that'll show up in the new year.

-Bates said the rest they've had the last few weeks has helped guys stay fresh.

-Bates said a few takeaways from the Central Arkansas game he had were that they rebounded well, they didn't make too many 3s but they took good ones, and they limited Central Arkansas in transition. The third part will be especially important against Georgia.
