FOOTBALL RECRUITING

We'll start with the high school kids.

Busy week for Missouri so far, they've stacked up three more commitments in the 2025 class and a big-time OL transfer. ICYMI our coverage, hit the links below...

Joshua Lewis, 2025 DE:

Marcus Bryant, SMU OL transfer
- BRYANT TALKS RECENT VISIT, COMMITMENT

In regards to the 2025 class, Missouri now has five total commitments and a class currently ranked 30th in the country, according to Rivals.com.

- We expect Missouri's hot streak to continue as three-star LB target Jason King out of De Smet (Mo.) confirmed with us on Thursday that he'll be committing on Saturday. The Tigers are trending heavily here as King recently told us that Kansas and K-State were his other top contenders, but Missouri has been making a strong push for quite some time now and it appears they'll get their second linebacker in the class, joining McClellan.

King has already scheduled an official visit with Missouri for the weekend of June 21st and is coming off a junior season where he tallied 90 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and four sacks.

- WR target Jacob Washington also scheduled an official visit with Missouri this week for the weekend of June 7th. He was on campus back on March 9th for a spring practice. He's an intriguing prospect out of Louisiana and listed at 6-foot-3, 185-pound. Along with Missouri, he also has an official set with Miss. State for June 14th and just recently picked up a Michigan offer. For now, he seems to be more a second-tier target for the Tigers with Corey Simms, Jayvan Boggs, and Donovan Olugbode topping the wish list.

Of course, Missouri had some other WR targets commit elsewhere recently in Dillon Alfred (Ole Miss) and Isaiah Mozee (Oregon)

- East St. Louis safety Charles Bass was in town on an unofficial visit on Thursday. He's been on campus multiple times before. There's hope that he might be ready to end his recruitment pretty soon, before the official visits start at the end of next month. Nothing has happened yet, but Missouri seems to be in good position here to continue its spring success with the four-stars.

The main focus in the short term is the transfer portal.

As mentioned above, SMU's Marcus Bryant jumped on board this week. He's likely to be slotted at left tackle for this year. There are a number of different ways Missouri could go. Cayden Green could move inside, Green could to go right tackle and Armand Membou could move inside. They'll look at all options, but I think Green playing left guard--like he did at Oklahoma--is Scenario A. Then you've got Jayven Richardson as the sixth man who can play basically anywhere, Logan Reichert as an option and right now Mitchell Walters--who we're told had an excellent spring--as the 8th guy.

It is not impossible that Missouri looks at another lineman in the portal, but I think it's unlikely at this point. One source told us the staff feels like it has a top 10 offensive line in the country after nabbing Bryant.

- Charlotte linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green arrived in Columbia on a visit Thursday morning. He'll leave later today. He posted on Instagram a final three of Mizzou, Colorado and Arkansas with a decision "$oon." Given that list, you've got to think Missouri's in pretty good shape, though the other two could probably offer more immediate playing time. We're hoping to talk to Hill-Green later today.

- Depending on how things went with Hill-Green, Mizzou could get involved with Jeremiah Beasley. Mizzou finished second to Michigan recruiting Beasley out of high school. He entered the portal yesterday. We don't really see Mizzou taking both of them but if Hill-Green goes elsewhere or if the staff thinks they'd rather have a younger transfer at linebacker, Beasley is one to keep an eye on.

- Michigan State defensive tackle Simeon Barrow also got to town on Thursday and will leave today. One source told us Mizzou is "going all in" on him. You've got to think the presence of Zion Young here could help. Barrow had a LONG list of suitors.

He visited LSU before Missouri. He's scheduled to take a trip to Miami "early next week." Obviously Mizzou would love him to shut it down and not take any more visits. We'll see where it goes.

- Later today, TCU's Damonic Williams will arrive on campus. He's another highly coveted target. He and Barrow are generally considered the top two defensive tackles available in this portal window. Williams has already visited Oklahoma and Texas. He'll also visit LSU and "possibly" Oregon with a decision targeted for the middle of next week. As of right now, the Longhorns are considered the leader. It's up to Mizzou to change that.

I asked a source which of the two Mizzou would prefer. "No preference either one would be massive." It seems highly unlikely one team would get both of them. Seems like a first one to jump in situation, but both will be difficult battles.

- The final transfer expected in town this weekend is Georgia Tech DL Eddie Kelly. He started at USF then played for Tech last year. He visited Michigan State this week and is supposed to arrive in Columbia on Sunday.

If Mizzou can get Kelly, a linebacker and one of the defensive tackles, it might still look at a corner in the spring window, but other than that, it would probably be done unless there was a player that was simply too good to turn down. We'll keep you posted as things develop.

BASKETBALL RECRUITING

There's really nothing new to report here. As of Thursday, we were told there aren't any visits planned for this weekend. We know Mizzou wants to add a big man. We still don't really have much of a feel for who that is. There have been a couple of new contacts this week, including South Carolina's Josh Gray, but they're not really names that move the needle. Obviously there's quite a bit of time left for players to visit and make decisions. Right now, all we can do is wait and see what develops. There could be someone out there Mizzou is tracking that we simply have no knowledge of (again, the info has been very sparse this portal season). Obviously the hope is that it isn't a repeat of last year where you get late in the portal cycle and just take someone because he's big. If we get anything else, we'll obviously pass it on.
