After canceling his spring visit, Jowell Combay finally got his first look at Missouri.

The Class of 2026 four-star safety officially visited the Tigers this past weekend along with teammate Tony Forney Jr., a three-star nickel corner at Marietta (Ga.) Kell, the school Combay transferred to before the spring semester.

"We just listen to each other," Combay said. "It was great to be down there with him, though, being able to talk about stuff we like and just communicate about it together."

Relationships with defensive coordinator Corey Batoon, safeties coach Jacob Yoro, assistant linebackers coach Christopher Ball and defensive graduate assistant Bo Els put Missouri in a positive light for Combay, who also met head coach Eli Drinkwitz for the first time.

"I could see myself being around them for a long time," Combay said. "I definitely enjoyed the vibes."

Ball, Yoro and linebackers coach Derek Nicholson all made offseason stops at Kell during the NCAA Contact Periods. The Tigers showed a willingness to recruit a higher tier defense, offering other recruits within the program as well.

"He was a great guy," Combay said about Yoro. "And I also thought he's an even better coach. They say he's very detail oriented, which I like. I talked about just my self development. We talked about ways how I can develop my game and how he can help that."

Along with Forney, Combay spent time with other recruits and current players, including sophomore safety Trajen Greco, a product of Buford (Ga.) Mill Creek, a school not far from Combay's home, and his host, cornerback Toriano Pride Jr.

"That was my first time fishing," Combay said. "I was fishing with Coach Ball and Coach Yoro. I caught five fish."

Pride explained to Combay the competitiveness within the Tigers' secondary, which only excited Combay. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound safety displayed versatility in his junior season that may attract him to different positions, but he also recognized an avenue to contribute early by the 2026 season.

Combay has three more visits scheduled with South Carolina for this upcoming weekend, Wisconsin for June 13-15 and Tennessee for June 20-22. Looking to commit in July, he might squeeze in mid-week trips, but that'll be a future conversation with his brother and father.

"Overwhelming, exciting, tiring, it gets crazy," said Combay, who hadn't received his first Power Four offer until January. "Just trying to make sure I make the best decision."
