Lock being #2 on the depth chart is as much about this year as it is next year. Don't get me wrong, this year will be exciting but think about what we will have returning:
QB: Lock (the more snaps he gets this year the better next year will be); Mauk;
WR: All #1 and #2 WRs return (when have we ever been able to say that?)
TE: Both top TEs return (This year will be a tipping point for this position)
OL: We have some really good OL stepping in this year that will be very good next year. We may have even more talent behind them.
Defense:
DL: Brantley, Beckner, Augusta, (wait there's more) Hatley, Josh Moore and...
DE: Frazier, Harris, Howard and Brady plus some newbies
LB: Newsom, Scherer, Green, Lee, Burkett, etc
DB: Penton, Cheadle Gibson, Stribling, Hilton, Ross
To summarize: Lock, Brantley, Beckner, Augusta, Penton, Scherer, WRs, TEs and so much more! Very bright future indeed.
