Kevin Young Jr. suspected an offer from Missouri was obtainable when he visited for the first time this past month.

Meeting running backs coach Curtis Luper, he felt even more confident in himself playing at a high level in college and so did the Tigers. Luper extended an offer during Junior Day on Jan. 18, marking Young's first from an SEC program.

"I didn't know they were just going to give it to me," Young said. "It excited me. ... I just like the running back coach. I like how he just gave me a boost in recruitment and confidence."

Young's confidence intrigued Luper, who went into detail about how the runner bursts through tackles and makes the first defender miss. Even with a calling card of running through defenders at 5-foot-11, 205 pounds, Young has also shown the ability to juke and stiff arm.

With the Missouri staff holding connections to the state of Arkansas, Young, a junior at Forrest City (Ark.) High, noted the Tigers likely know coaches from his area and reached out to others about him.

While not meeting many people during his visit, Young wanted a player's perspective on how the Tigers approached taking care of players within the program and academics, addressing a few questions on what led to a commitment to Missouri.
