Julian Caldwell bolted onto the scene his sophomore year.
Seven programs offered him during the NCAA Contact Period in January, and Missouri wanted to get in early on the No. 122 recruit in the 2027 class. Caldwell held a short conversation with edges coach Brian Early, but since he's still a sophomore, his communication has been limited with college coaches.
Early visited Argyle (Tex.) High on Jan. 22 to offer Caldwell and inquire about Tyler Anderson, a 6-foot-7, 330-pound offensive tackle in the 2027 class. Early said a Missouri staffer will visit Anderson in the spring for an evaluation.
"Luther Burden is a great receiver, one I like to study," Caldwell said. "I know Mizzou is an SEC school, so that's big time. They're always been a school that I've been interested in, so I'd love to hopefully come down some time and see what they're about."
Caldwell reeled in 21 passes for 581 yards and seven touchdowns this past season. His speed paid a huge part in that, too, as his improved route running also gave him a push in his receiving output.
"I want to stay fast," Caldwell said. "Speed, I feel like, is the most important part of the game."
Caldwell participated in the Under Armour Next Camp in Dallas this past Sunday. He ran 4.52 seconds in his first-ever lasered 40-yard dash, but the 6-foot-1, 175-pound wideout acknowledged he needed to improve his shuttle time of 4.39 seconds.
"It gave me a good perspective on where I'm at," Caldwell said. "Then just one-on-one situations is something that you don't get to do a lot of, unless you're at practice or in game, so it's always good to get a little practice."
