College football has major differences from the NFL but we don’t seem to take advantage.
1. The first is lineman can go downfield in college and block when a pass is thrown behind the line of scrimmage. Not the case in the NFL. Why wouldn’t a college coach/offense take advantage of that. Our offense is not screen friendly and it should be especially with our QB beaten up. Screen passes to WR’s and RB’s should be a big part of any college offense.
2. In college ball when a player is on the ground he is down and can’t be legally hit. Why would a college QB slide and lose yardage when he can dive forward and gain yardage. He is down if he slides or dives and can’t legally be hit. A defender may not be able to or want to stop once he is positioned to hit someone. A slide leaves you wide out to be hit in face. Dive forward and they will be better protected and gain a couple extra yards.
